Grand Palace and Wat Pho in one visit
Wat Pho lies south of the Grand Palace and is a separate temple with its own entrance and its own ticket. A Grand Palace and Wat Pho tour usually puts both on one route, often with Wat Arun across the river. You can book that as a guided walk or link the two places yourself.
There is no combined entrance ticket. The palace costs THB 500 and Wat Pho THB 300 in 2026, so two tickets come to THB 800. A guided tour may or may not include these entrances, so read the inclusions line before you pay.

Our picks: Grand Palace and Wat Pho
The canal boat tour includes both entries. The two three-temple tours add Wat Arun by boat; there you pay the entries yourself.

Guided combo or self-guided: how they compare
Entrance prices for 2026. Tour prices vary by provider and date.
| Guided combined tour | Self-guided | |
|---|---|---|
| Entrance tickets | Included in some tours, extra in others | THB 500 palace plus THB 300 Wat Pho |
| Route | Planned, with a guide who sets the order | Your own order and pace |
| Stories and context | Explained as you walk | Audio guide at the palace, THB 200 |
| Flexibility | Fixed start time and meeting point | Free, with a separate ticket at each place |
| Wat Arun | Part of some routes | THB 200 extra, by cross-river ferry |
For most first-time visitors, a guided combined tour is the easier choice if you want the history explained and the route handled. Choose the self-guided route if you want to move slowly or spend more time at the Reclining Buddha.
Wat Pho in brief
Wat Pho is best known for the Reclining Buddha, which is 46 m long and 15 m high. The temple is a separate site with its own opening hours: 08:30 to 20:00 with last entry at 19:30, or 08:00 to 19:30, so check the board at the entrance on the day.
We keep the temple itself short here. For the buddha, the grounds and massage, see the Wat Pho guide to visiting both. For the temple across the river, Wat Arun has its own pages.
A simple order for the day
The palace opens at 08:30 and stops selling tickets at 15:30. Wat Pho stays open later.
1. Palace at 08:30
Enter the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew first, while it is cooler. Visitors go through the Mani Nopparat Gate and a security check. The Dusit Maha Prasat throne hall is closed for normal sightseeing, and routes have changed since 21 February 2026.
Opening hours โ2. Wat Pho after lunch
Go on to Wat Pho for the Reclining Buddha. No combined route is guaranteed through palace areas that are closed, so use the visitor route on the day.
3. Wat Arun last
A cross-river ferry runs from Tha Tien to Wat Arun. Wat Arun closes at 18:00, so leave it for the late afternoon.
Boats on the Chao Phraya โUsing the MRT
Wat Pho is about 5 minutes on foot from Sanam Chai station. Do not apply that time to the palace entrance.
Getting there โWhat to wear for both temples
At the palace, wear sleeves, cover your shoulders, and choose long, loose trousers or a long skirt. Shorts, sleeveless or see-through tops, torn or tight trousers, cycling shorts, mini skirts and sleepwear are not allowed. Take off your shoes before the Buddha chapel.
