Grand Palace opening hours at a glance
The Grand Palace is open daily from 08:30 to 16:30, with ticket sales from 08:30 to 15:30. Tourist visiting ends at 15:30. The practical advice is simple: treat 15:30 as your cut-off and be through the gate well before it.
There is no fixed weekly closing day. The palace is open daily as a rule, but ceremonies and the official calendar can shorten a day or close it. If you want a guide for the morning, compare the options on our page about Grand Palace tours, and see Grand Palace tickets for prices.

Closure days and ceremonies
The palace is still a working royal site. Ceremonies decide some days.
Check the calendar
The official palace calendar lists the palace, the temple precinct and the Buddha chapel separately. On a ceremony day one of them can close at noon while another stays open, and entries can be changed or added. Check it the evening before and again on the morning you go.
Online booking can pause
On some ceremony days online booking is not offered at all. If the page will not let you pick your date, look at the calendar before you try another date.
Phone the palace
For a direct answer, the palace office can be reached on +66 2 623 5500, extension 2171.
A real closure looks like this
After a closure in autumn 2025, tourists were admitted again from 9 November 2025, with visits from 08:30 to 15:30. That is the pattern to expect: the dates are announced, and nobody has to tell you at the gate.
A stranger who tells you the palace is closed today is a different matter. Read the Grand Palace closed scam before you walk from the pier or the MRT.

Opening hours of the Grand Palace and its neighbours
Prices and times for 2026. Entrance tickets are separate for each place.
| Place | Hours | Entry 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew | 08:30โ16:30, tickets until 15:30 | THB 500 |
| Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles | 09:00โ16:30, last entry 15:30 | Included in the palace ticket |

| Wat Arun | 08:00โ18:00 | THB 200 |
Wat Pho's hours vary, so check the entrance board on the day. For most visitors a good order is the palace at 08:30, Wat Pho afterwards and Wat Arun last, before it closes at 18:00. The full route is on the Grand Palace and Wat Pho page. For temple details, see Wat Pho opening hours and Wat Arun.
What to wear at the Grand Palace
Wear a top with sleeves that covers your shoulders, plus long, loose trousers or a long skirt. Sleeveless, short or see-through tops, shorts, torn or tight trousers, cycling shorts, mini skirts, culottes and sleepwear are not allowed. Shorts are refused even when they reach the knee.
Take your shoes off before you enter the Buddha chapel. That is not a rule for the whole open-air site. Drones are banned over the grounds.
Choosing your arrival time
At 08:30
Cooler air, fewer tour groups and a full day ahead. This is the right slot in the hot months, covered on the best time to visit Bangkok.
Around midday
The hottest and busiest part of the day. If you come now, drink water and plan indoor stops.
After 14:00
You have less than two hours before the 15:30 cut-off. It is enough for the main courtyards, not for a slow visit with a guide.
Entering the grounds
Visitors use the Mani Nopparat Gate and a security check. Since 21 February 2026 the visitor route has changed, and the Dusit Maha Prasat throne hall is closed for normal sightseeing. See how to get there for the way in.
Grand Palace opening hours: frequently asked questions
What time does the Grand Palace open and close?
It is open 08:30 to 16:30 daily. Tickets are sold from 08:30 to 15:30, and tourist visiting ends at 15:30, so aim to arrive by early afternoon at the latest.
Is the Grand Palace closed on any day of the week?
There is no fixed weekly closing day. Closures come from ceremonies and the official calendar, so check it before the day you plan to go.
Can the palace close at noon?
Yes, on some ceremony days the palace, the temple and the Buddha chapel close at noon. This is why the calendar matters more than the printed hours.
Can I see the palace and Wat Pho on the same day?
Yes. The palace opens at 08:30 and Wat Pho stays open into the evening, so the palace first and Wat Pho second works well. Allow time for two separate tickets and the walk between them.
Is this the official Grand Palace website?
No. This is an independent guide. Tickets are sold at the palace counters and on the palace's own booking site.
